During May we recognize Clean Air Month and National Bike Month. We celebrate these observances to raise awareness and encourage others to get involved! National Bike Month, established in 1956 by the League of American Bicyclist, showcases the many benefits of bicycling. Clean Air Month, established in 1972, educates people about the impact clean air has on our lives and encourages people to take positive steps to improve the air quality. Texas Vehicle Registration and Inspection Requirements Under COVID-19

Vehicle Registration Information All Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) offices are closed to the public for in-person transactions as of the close of business on March 18, 2020. Services and support will continue to be provided by mail, email and phone. On March 16, 2020, Governor Abbot granted a temporary extension to obtain initial registration, renewal of registration, vehicle titling and renewal of a permanent disable parking placard. Governor Abbot also granted a temporary extension for an individual with an expired 30-day temporary permit to obtain another permit or Texas registration. Light-Duty Motor Vehicle Purchase or Lease Incentive Program (LDPLIP)

Rebates are available statewide for eligible light-duty motor vehicles purchased or leased in Texas on or after September 1, 2019. Rebates of up to $5,000 are available for up to 1,000 eligible compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG or propane) vehicles. Rebates of up to $2,500 are available for up to 2,000 eligible electric drive (plug-in or plug-in hybrid) or hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. Applications will be accepted and considered on a first-come, first-served basis until all available rebates have been awarded. Applications will not be accepted after 5:00 p.m. on January 7, 2021. Texas Clean Fleet Program (TCFP)

The TCEQ is accepting applications for the Texas Clean Fleet Program (TCFP).This program has approximately $7.7 million available and funds the replacement of light-duty or heavy-duty diesel vehicles with new alternative fuel or hybrid vehicles. Up to 80% of the project cost may be funded. This program is competitive, and grants are awarded based on a combination of emissions reductions and cost-effectiveness. Eligible applicants: Any person or entity who owns, leases, or commercially finances a fleet of 75 or more on-road vehicles that are currently registered in Texas and includes at least 10 on-road diesel vehicles.
