Everman Independent School District (ISD) Awarded by Texas Energy Summit for Electric School Buses

Everman ISD Director of Transportation, Jason Gillis, received the 2020 Texas Energy Summit’s Outstanding School District award on behalf of the district for their adoption of electric school buses. Electric school buses are the only zero-emission school buses, and they provide several benefits including lower maintenance and operating costs and reduce student and driver exposure to pollutants. Everman ISD is the first school district in Texas to adopt electric school buses, putting them on the cutting edge of school district transportation electrification. Funded through the Texas Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Program (TxVEMP), Everman ISD purchased three electric Blue Bird type D school buses which were deployed in the fall of 2020. Jason Gillis was recognized for being a driving force in Everman ISD’s decision to pursue electric buses and for his willingness to be a champion and mentor for electric school buses statewide.
Congratulations to Everman ISD and Jason Gillis!
