2020 Holiday Grease Roundup - an Opportunity to Strengthen the Local Biodiesel Ecosystem!

According to Clean Cities annual reports, nearly 2,500 vehicles were fueled with biodiesel in 2019, reducing greenhouse gases by over 5,000 tons. Biodiesel-using fleets can help strengthen the local biodiesel industry by encouraging participation in the annual Regional Holiday Grease Roundup! When fats, oils, and grease are washed down the drain, they stick to the inside of pipes, hardening and building up until they cause clogs and sewer backups. This presents a lost opportunity for the local production of biodiesel from an otherwise waste product! During this annual collection event, cooking oil and grease will be recycled into biodiesel or biogas, which reduces landfill waste and produces an alternative fuel that is clean and green.

This year's Holiday Grease Roundup will begin on Monday, November 23, 2020, and end on Monday, January 4, 2021. Learn more about this event organized by Defend Your Drains.
