To benefit, improve air quality—swap a solo commute for working at home or another alternative

The Dallas-Fort Worth region is the fourth largest metropolitan region in the nation with almost 6.5 million residents. Rapid population growth in the past decade has led to major traffic congestion. With increased traffic congestion comes air quality concerns.

One way for commuters to help reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality is by using an alternative commute. Alternative commute options include:

  • carpooling
  • vanpooling
  • taking transit
  • walking
  • biking
  • telecommuting

You can keep track of your contribution to clean air on TryParkingIt.com. Try Parking It will give you an estimate of miles saved and harmful emissions reduced, each time you submit your alternative commute. The benefits stretch beyond your wallet and the environment. Residents who walk or ride their bicycles to work are provided an estimated number of calories burned.

You can even get your company involved! Sign your company up with TryParkingIt.com and encourage employees to log their alternative commute. As a company participant, you will receive reports on employee participation that detail emissions reduced, commute methods and more!

To up the ante, from April 17th to September 15th your alternative commute choices will earn you a chance to win $250 through the 2009 Commuter Challenge, sponsored by the North Texas Clean Air Coalition’s Working for Clean Air campaign.

Register on TryParkingIt.com, log your alternative commute each day and be reminded that the small changes you've chosen are making a big difference. One less commute, one less car, one breath of clean air.

Get off the road. Get Going. Log on today—TryParkingIt.com.
