Get on board, try transit
With hot weather creeping up on North Texas and ozone season in swing, it's important to consider mass transit as a way to get where you need to go. Taking transit helps improve the air quality in North Texas.
DART | The T | DCTA | North Texas Green & Go Taxi Partnership
Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART)
DART gets you around 13 cities with rail, bus, paratransit, HOV lanes and rideshare services.
By riding instead of driving, commuters not only help the environment, they also limit wear and tear on their cars, lower auto expenses and eliminate the stress of stop-and-go driving.
By bus or by train, DART is a greener way to go. DART rail trains have the same emissions as a golf cart - which is next to nothing. DART buses use 8.7% less energy per passenger mile than a typical car, while a train uses up to 23.7% less. DART also makes for more green in your wallet. >> Fares
Got crazy hours? DART has a schedule to meet every commuter's need. >> Schedules
Fort Worth Transportation Authority (The T)
The T is another great transit option. The T links downtown Fort Worth, downtown Dallas and DFW Airport with rail, bus, paratransit and rideshare services.
Riders can take The T's Downtown Free Zone which allows free travel within the district bounded by Henderson, Jones, Belknap and Lancaster streets. >> Other Routes
Riding
The T is incredibly affordable and considerably cheaper than driving your vehicle every day. A local pass, valid for rail and bus service, is only $50 a month! >> Fares

North Texas Green & Go Taxi Partnership
If you don’t live near a rail line, you have another option to help air quality in North Texas. Take a green taxi. By hailing a green taxi you reduce air pollution, protect public health and preserve the environment. |
What is North Texas Green and Go?
The North Texas Green & Go Clean Taxi Partnership is a collaborative effort of the Dallas Sustainable Skylines Initiative. This partnership was created to encourage the use of low emission “green” taxicab vehicles. Given their high mileage and the congested conditions in which they operate, taxis can play an important part in reducing emissions to help clean the air.
What is a green taxi?
A green taxi is an environmentally-friendly taxi that uses less gasoline and emits less pollution into the air than a regular taxi.
Why should I choose a green taxi? Choosing a green taxi allows you to improve air quality and protect the environment at no extra cost to you. Green taxi fares are the same as regular taxi fares.
How do I hail a green taxi?
Call 1-877-HAIL-GREEN (1-877-424-5473) or go to www.NorthTexasGreenAndGo.org for a complete listing of taxi companies that you can request a green taxi from. Also look for the Green & Go logo displayed on taxicabs who are part of this program.
